This book served me well for a week in Paris (it covers the rest of France too). It's well-organized, pithy, practical, and engaging. The maps come in extremely handy. I might have devoted less space to retail and more to walking tours, but that's minor. If you're taking only one guidebook for a first trip to France, this is an excellent choice.
