When the author explained a dog's 'umwelt' and the way it is different from the human, I knew I'd found a wonderful book. Most doggie books humanize the actions of dogs. However, this is not the idea behind this author's book. Dogs see color differently from humans; they are not colorblind. Where our main sense is sight, for the dog, it is smell.

I volunteer at an animal shelter. I feel that this book will help me to interact with dogs more effectively. I loved the fact that the author encouraged readers to invest in a shelter pet.
