Just an average and lackluster historical romance, which is not this author's usual standard. A day after reading it, I'm hard pressed to remember the finer details of the plot. It kind of rambled along without any real conflict with only a little danger culminating in an over-the-top Indiana Jones-like adventure obstacle course that read like the author was trying too hard to fulfill a word count. Ultimately, the ending just coasted slowly to the finish. Overall, it was a disappointing read. I'm much more interested in Drake's story, but who's to say how this series will continue? 3 stars.
