This anthology consists of interconnected stories about four English women visiting Venice at Carnival. Their tales capture the excitement, decadence, intrigue, and high degree of sensuality surrounding the masked revelers.

Lady Audrey, known as The Black Widow since her husbands death only three days into their marriage, is in Venice to lose her virginity and thus hold on to her inheritance. She seeks the infamous Count Dante at one Masquerade after another, believing the debauched nobleman will easily agree to bed her. But fate puts her in the hands of an artist who sees her true beauty and vows to win her love.

Her friend, Isabel Penrose, is also searching for the Count. He must denounce the rumors that have ruined her reputation. When she finds the notorious libertine, wearing his famous red-glass mask, she discovers its not the count but a kind and gentle glassmaker. It is this tender lover who surprisingly brings her what she desires.

Fleeing the idea of an arranged marriage, Pamela Shay arrives in Venice only to become attracted to the very man shed been eluding. How these two lovers, destined to be together, find one another amidst the wild and passionate Carnival celebrations makes for a delightful tale.

Venice is a city full of easy marks for an experienced pickpocket like Zeika. While stealing a fabulous necklace, she is caught and seduced by a nobleman who then steals the necklace from her. In this sensual version of To Catch a Thief, readers take a wild gondola ride of suspense and passion.
