I read a lot of mystery/suspense novels, and I can't remember any that truly caught my interest *and* left me with a lasting impression and new philosophical point to consider. After all, I read this type of book as kind of an escape from Important Thoughts, and I didn't expect this book to prompt any soul-searching, but I read it quite some time ago and still think about it occasionally.

When life gets tense for one reason or another, I sometimes remind myself to "keep both skis on the same side of the tree."
