I love Karen Witemeyer's lighthearted and humorous books. More Than Meets the Eye, the first book in the Patchwork Family series will give readers the enjoyable experience they have come to expect and identify with Witemeyer's writing style.

The prologue sets the stage for the story to come and actually had me choking up. Several chapters later Karen's wit and whimsy were back with the hilarious first meeting of the two main characters. The absurdity of it all had me laughing out loud. Really fun to read.

I really like that the characters were portrayed as ordinary imperfect people, yet were likeable and inspiring. One passage in particular was quite poignant and touching,

Tears glistened in the girls eyes. "I'm broken," she said.
"So am I." Then she gestured to the others in the room. "We all are."
Each of the men nodded as she glanced his way, confirming that they, too, recognized their own imperfections and flaws.

There's much to experience in More Than Meets the Eye, betrayal and bitterness, danger and fear, friendship and healing and ultimately love. The inspirational thread provided a strong and powerful foundation for the entire storyline . It's a wonderful story that tugs at the heartstrings, I really enjoyed reading it! I am curious about one thing, I wonder if the cover model actually had two different color eyes or if that was arranged by the cover artist?
