I don't read true crime because it glorifies the criminals and reinjures the victims. But something compelled me to read A Tangled Web by Leslie Rule. Imagine my surprise when I discovered the crime featured in this book took place in Omaha, Nebraska - my city!

It was wild to read about places and people with which I'm familiar, especially in the context of murder, cyberstalking, and other crimes. Without the local connection, I wouldn't have finished this because the writing seemed undeveloped and included far too many explanation marks. Perhaps that's the true crime genre's style.
