Jurassic Park is one the most engaging books I have ever read. Even now, over 10 years later, I still love to curl up and shiver with delight as I read about dinosaurs gone bad ;-). Crichton did a bang up job and deserves 5 stars in my opinion [even with the very dubious science involved]

Lost World, however, was a tired rehash. It worked as a movie sequel, but not a novel sequel. Repetitive chaos, destruction and the downward spiraling of events were all unimaginative and boring. What worked in JP doesn't work in LW. This book got a 1 star in my opinion. Crichton's diatribe about evolution sounded WAY more like Theistic Evolution even while the character espousing it says that "Creationism is wrong, just wrong." Can't have it both ways dipstick.

So overall, Jurassic Park was a fantastic book. I was glad to read the second, but wouldn't recommend Lost World to anyone.
