When Ellen Wainright married Richard Lancy, the marriage should have given them both the security they needed, since Richard was a skilled miller and Ellen a loving helpful sensible wife. Soon, however Richard's attitude towards money was to cause her anxiety, and later his eccentrity rose to dangereous proportions causing Ellen and their young son into a problem filled way of life.
