This is a beautiful love story full of humor and joy! One of my favorites!!
Set in the rugged California frontier, six brothers try to run a ranch, raise two little girls, and make do with what few manners they can remember. Gideon Chance "rescues" a fine young lady after his youngest brother accidentaly knocks her down and subsequently knocks her out, only to find out that she's come all the way from her home in the islands with her missionary parents to help raise her two little nieces ~ his two little nieces!!
If you have the opportunity read the Barbour compilation, "California Chances", it includes this story as well as two other stories about the Chance brothers and the "damsels in distress" that they rescue!
