Book Review of Handbook on Thriving as an Adoptive Family: Real-Life Solutions to Common Challenges

reviewed on + 51 more book reviews

So what happens after you bring the adopted child into your family. This book also has specific chapters on extended families, siblings, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, sexual abuse, drug exposure, and grief and loss. It's final chapter is "When an Adoption Disrupts or Dissolves" Each chapter is written by adoption experts, David and Renee Sanford wrote one chapter and the introduction so it is not just their experiences and opinions.

This would be an excellent book to read before adopting. It has more information about what happens after and allows the reader to consider the challenges ahead. It is written from a strong Christian point of view, not surprising for a book published by Focus on the Family.

I would recommend it to families who have or are considering adopting a child of any age.
