Kailey is at dinner with her fiancé - successful, attractive, etc - and when leaving bumps into a homeless man who is her long lost missing boyfriend from her younger years. Turns out he suffered from a traumatic brain injury and she sets out to get him medical help and help from social services so he can get off the streets. The beginning is strong with good character development and a good buildup to what happened to Cade (the old boyfriend) and how he ended up on the streets - his life was spiraling out of control, drinking, tension with his business partner, etc. But the end was rushed and just kind of fizzled. I felt the recovery from his TBI was almost overnight and there was no struggle there and the questions about how he ended up on the street were never resolved. Not the best Sarah Jio book.
