What surprised me was that the small copper butterfly is on most continents but mostly lives in England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. They like the chalky hills or cliffsides. It also surprised me that they had a short life of about one to one-and-a-half months. The butterflies are territorial, and the males shoo off other butterflies from their territory.

I thought the idea of having the small copper butterfly as a pet to be a joke. I cannot imagine finding the correct aged butterfly to nurture. It may be possible, just not likely.
