This is a spellbinding book told by an older white woman, Ora Lee Beckworth, in the 1970s in Mayville, FL. It involves her hired black help, Blanche and her family, and the black Pecan Man, called that because he picks up pecans along the street. The woman telling the story has a wonderful relationship with the black people in her life. The Pecan Man is a homeless man who is accused of something he did not do. The story involves their relationship together.
