The only thing that kept me reading this book was the fact that I found it so hilarious to read about an elf that hates nature, and whom nature seems to reciprocate the feeling.
Shallow one liners, meaningless zingers and faux "mysteriousness" peppered this book, spiced it too much if you ask me. Vacillating awkwardly between seriousness, humor and attempts at character building, nothing fit together for me and left me feeling like I had just seen the mating of a stickfigure and a ragstuffed chew doll. Not pretty at all.
Not a terrible read mind you. Evans does an admirable job of the mechanics of writing, but it was just one step below blase for me. I hope you enjoy it more than I did. Give it a try though and make up your own mind. It does deserve that much anyway.
