Pres-Grade 1ASoftly colored illustrations maximize the impact of this warm, simple story. When Saltar!n's mother tells him that spring is coming, the young rabbit gets excited, thinking it is a new friend with whom he will be able to talk and play. Each page shows the little creature approaching a different animal looking for spring. When a bear walks him home, Saltar!n's mother finally tells him that spring is when plants begin to grow and the world turns green and flowery again. This book is a good choice for introducing the season to Spanish-speaking children. It works equally well for one-on-one sharing and as a storyhour read-aloud.AVianela Rivas, New York Public Library
