Dru mentions early on that she and her father, a former servicemember, hunt things that go bump in the night. As such, she has been brought up with some strategy, knowledge and skill... and the Touch - a sixth sense kind of deal to know when something bad's around. So I want to know what's out there! And it was awesome how St. Crow introduced all these different parts of "the real world" (as Dru deems it). Demon rats, lugaru (that's an interesting one), zombies, voodoo, dream stealers, etc., and last but not least... even in a story filled with other creatures... somehow it still boils down to... vampires and werewolves. Though the mythology isn't all that original, it is taken from a different angle than usual, so I appreciated that. It is aimed at young adults and that is why I have given it less than 4 stars. I'm way past young adult LOL If you are not an old geezer you will probably love it as vampire/werewolf type stories go.
