Over the years, I've read a variety of this author's fine publications about common and uncommon animals. The minute I saw this unusually named animal, I had to read about it. Quolls live in Australia and New Guinea (north of Australia). Quolls are marsupials (having a pouch) that are carnivorous (meat-eaters). They are ferocious but endangered.

Because of new animals introduced to Australia and New Guinea cats, foxes, and the Cane Frog), the Quoll has declined in population. One example is the Cane Frog, which is extremely poisonous. Once the frog moved into the Quoll habitat, they started eating these frogs (along with the ones they have always eaten), not realizing how poisonous they were. These new intruders have decimated the Quoll. Universities are studying the Quoll and are trying to protect them in the wild. Quoll prey on other small animals during the night.

Quoll is not recommended as a household pet.
