So much to say about this book, I'm torn on the stars cause I did like the book but I hated the story.
To explain: This is NOT a "feel good" book but it will definetly make you think. So many words I can use to describe the story: sad, disturbing, emotional, cruel, abusive, bitter but one word more than any other describes it: depressing. Until the very last sentence on the very last page (PLEASE do not peek ahead) where the author throws you a very small lifeline of hope.
This was a painful read for me and not soon to be forgotten, even though I wish I'd never read it. I'm finding it hard to get Ellen out of my head, it affected me that badly.
High praise to this author, she has written a "gripping" well told story of what actually goes on "behind closed doors."
