A narrative filled with suspense and fascinating details of post colonial life picks up right where Lawrence's debut sensation left off. It is 1786 and summer has come to rufford maine as the hay ripens and roses perfume the air the horrors of the recent war of revolution seem to be fading then a series of murders rocks the town and it is up to Hannah Trevor to employ every bit of her intelligence and passsion to unravel the dark truth from the deadly lies.
