Barely readable. The multiple diversions in thought--both in-text and via footnotes--were an interesting experiment at first, but after 10 or so pages of it I was yelling "Get on with it, already!" Some of the information found in those footnotes was fascinating, but not enough so that I wanted to be distracted by them every couple paragraphs or so. I mean, really--if the point of the entire novel is that we, as humans, are surrounded and distracted by such daily minutiae, did we really need an entire novel--a distraction in and of itself--to tell us that? Just pointless.
