I always like Griffiths but this one felt a bit by-the-numbers to me. It's a big time jump ahead from the previous book (11 years) and I see why the author did it, as she wanted to depict growing pains in the marriage of Edgar and Emma, and to some extent also with Max Mephisto. That stuff was interesting but the case itself--a string of missing girls, victims of a "collector"--lacked imagination.
