All I can say is WOW!

Remy Chandler is an angel who has chosen to live as a human. He has lived on the earth for centuries. He found love, that love, Madeline, is in a nursing home near death from cancer that is consuming her now elderly body. Remy is a PI on the trail of a cheating spouse who shoots his companion and shoots himself. Injuries for both people are mortal wounds, yet they don't die. People all over the world are stuck in a living limbo like this couple is. Remy can hear their souls crying out for release. He worries that when Madeline finally passes on, that her soul will also be stuck in limbo. A group of angels come to him and hire him to find the Angel of Death, who has disappeared without a trace. The Angel of Death can restore balance and help those agonized souls to pass on. The dog is not a major part of the plot - he doesn't go on missions with Remy. Instead Remy has conversations with the dog, Marlowe. It gives his character even more dimension.

I got so involved and cared so much about the characters that I hated for the book to end. When I finally turned the last page I let out an audible sigh. The story stayed in my mind long after the last page was turned. I have so many books waiting to be read, but none are appealing to me right now. This book is a tough act to follow. It's not Shakespeare, but it's a darn good story, but it really touches your heart and mind. I highly recommend it.
