This was a new to me author. The first of a three book series.
The MC is a woman who grew up in a carnival learning how to juggle, throw knives and ride horses among other things. She's sent away to finishing school. Not a good match and when her father dies she's out of school. She makes her way to Chicago to become a Pinkerton agent.
She has to be one of the first feminist women. She doesn't like to be called doll or honey, doesn't like to be ogled. When she quits the P9nkerton's she goes to San Francisco to start her own detective agency with her male cousin. He in turn runs the office while she does the detecting.
She gets a big case and is off to silver county, Nevada to find a missing heiress.
I loved her adventures and look forward to the next books.
