"The Road of Lost Innocence" is the story of a12 yr old Cambodian girl sold into slavery who finally escapes the brothels and goes on to rescue others, thousands of others. It is brutal and heart breaking but will, I pray, awaken a call to action. She had a very dangerous mission and no one wanted to help "prostitutes" return to meaningful lives. Somali did all of this, rescued them, some multiple times, gave them food and shelter and education in ways to support themelves through crafts, i.e. sewing, silk making, and knowledge of how to run a small business. But, most importantly, the organizaiton she founded provided care for the victims including medical care, and psychological and emotional support. The actions and belief system of both the Cambodian men and women running the sex slavery, the enforcement of "silence" and a girl's duty to support her relations is horrific, This should be a must read!
