Maya Delaney has discovered the reason for the paw print birthmark, her ability to communicate with animals and heightened senses. She is a skin-walker. She is looking into the abilities of other classmates. But before she gets to unite the group a forest fire has been set and they are rescued. Except they kill the mayor and the kids realize they are headed in the wrong direction. There is a helicopter crash and all they have against the Vancouver Island wilderness and home is their abilities. They have been trained to be wary of strangers from their island living, and so they discover there are two factions hunting them, but which one do you trust?
