I was not impressed with this book. I think there was potential for a good book, but it was poorly executed. It felt like many things were left unresolved--for instance is Prudie really happy in her marriage or not? And many of the Austen elements the author brought into the book were poorly done--the letter Daniel wrote to Sylvia saying he wanted to come home was not nearly as riveting as the letters in Persuasion or Pride and Prejudice.
After talking to many people, I have heard the movie is really good. I think it would be better to just watch this movie and not waste the time reading the book.
