Eight years ago while visiting her aunt, Abigail Bainbridge met and fell in love with Grant Nichols. Their love never had a chance when Abigail's mother found out about Grant and took her daughter home to Pittsburgh. Now Abigail is engaged to a man who her mother finds suitable. But Abigail wants one more chance to talk to Grant and explain why she left.

I found this title when I was looking for a book with a Second Chance at Love theme. This book was written in 1984 and feels very dated. Actually it feels more like it was written in 1954. Rich girl Abigail is controlled by her domineering mother and can't seem to run her own life. In an act of defiance, she decides to take off a week before her wedding and see her ex-boyfriend Grant. Of course, she still loves him and doesn't know how he will react to her secret.

I didn't care for Grant who was an egotistical jerk. Abigail was even worse since she had absolutely no backbone and is not prepared to take care of herself. At one point she is worried that if she marries Grant, he won't be able to afford to take care of her. I just rolled my eyes at that statement. My rating: 1.5 Stars.
