There were two issues that kept replaying in the book. Shiloh was betrayed by a New Orleans aristocrat and she didn't trust men. Logan Hawk, a Texas Ranger, reviewed how white men had betrayed the Indian. It just got old. There wasn't enough story to carry the pages.

Both characters were easy to like and to identify with; plus Logan's brother was interesting. However, the story spent most of its time mulling over whether or not the couple should make love. What action was in the story was good, however, there didn't seem to be enough plot to fill the pages.
