The first half of this book reveals the struggles of Madeleine's family in Europe just before WWII. Her family brought her to America and raised her and her sisters as Catholics. (She became an Episcopalian to marry Joseph Albright!) After her divorce, she raised 3 children alone. It's a tale of struggle for assimilation, of the destruction and sufferings of the Jewish community in Czechoslovakia. The second half of the book shows how she became the first woman Secretary of State - the position Hilary Clinton will hold in the Obama administration. I liked this book because it gave so much personal detail about the upbringing which led her to become a woman of great fame and respect. Lots of interesting pics, too.
