You are obliged to learn a great many character's names at the very beginning of the book before you care about what happens in the story or to any of the characters. If you manage to survive that, it's a pretty good tale. The heroine has been damaged by hurtful comments that made her feel that sex is dirty and the attitude of a family that undervalues her. In reaction to that, she is striving to prove that she does not need any man and that she can do her job. In doing so, she takes unnecessary risks. The hero jumps in to help her with her assignment and helps her overcome her fear of sex. So, rather formulaic, but well done.

One reviewer mentioned that the characters were introduced in a previous tale. If that is so, it might be better to read it first, which I did not.
