This book was different than other romance Historial books I have read. Usually the main characters marry without love and fall in love by the end of the book. In this one Meissande has always loved Jasper from afar. He has never taken a good look at her, because he thinks she is rather plain compared to the other woman he has bedded. He soon finds out the truth after they are married.
