Ellen, a successful attorney from New York City returns to the Maine countryside, where her grandmother once lived. Ellen seeks to deliver a letter written by her grandmother; one intended for her grandmother's old love, Chet.
While Ellen finds Chet has passed on, she randomly runs into Roy, a local of Beacon, Maine. Although Ellen is engaged to Hayden, also a successful attorney in New York; she can't help but become entranced by Roy. The story unfolds in the lovely countryside of Maine.
