I am usually not much of a nonfiction reader, but I could not put this book down! It's so well written it's a page turner, and it also avoided the pitfall of so many "describe the problem" books that leave you agreeing but with nothing concrete or specific to do. Not here - there's 10 clear steps from an almost zero-waste family on page 255 and the author's top 5 beginning on page 260. (In case you're curious, don't buy bottled water and do use cloth napkins and reusable shopping bags). It contains plenty of statistics if that's what you like, but also the stories of people that go along with them - the inventor of Chico bags, counters of plastic particles in the ocean, the driver of a dump bulldozer, CA artists in residence at a dump, and MIT students who tracked garbage through cell phone tower triangulation. There's also some history and international info too. Do you know what Denmark does with its trash?
