From the back: the fiery mountain strick Krynn. The gods shattered the Temple of Istar. One hundred years later, the continent of Ansalon is a desolate land, its people struggling for survival in a world ravaged by plague, starvation, and war.

Another triumph for Weis and Hickman. This is probably my favorite of the trilogy.

In case you haven't read the first one let me say again: These books are beautifully written, impossible to put down, and all together captivating. Years after reading about them I can still picture the characters in my mind as I type this review.
