I thoroughly enjoyed this mystery, set in the spring of 1888. Our heroine is the young widow Diana Spaulding, who is employed as a columnist for a New York newspaper. She's given the assignment to dig up some dirt on the writer Damon Bathory, and trying to get her story turns into an exciting adventure for Diana.

Great beginning to Ms. Emerson's series, I'm looking forward to reading more!
