Although not my favorite in the series thus far, I did enjoy it to the fullest.
The main plot is about Phury & Cormia ~ Phury stepped up and offered himself as Primale so that V could be with Jane & Cormia was The Chosen to be First Mate. Phury is a drug addict and is unable to come to grips with what is going on around him. His brothers are unable to trust him and he has ignored not only his duty as Primale, but helping Cormia adjust to the world that he has brought her into. As a Chosen Cormia has been sequestered all her life and knows nothing of life on the outside, she is scared and lonely ~ especially when she realizes that Phury has feelings for his twins shellan ~ but as she observes Phury, she begins to fall in love with the man who hides behind the drugs. I liked seeing Cormia grow in the story, but I really wanted to beat the crap out of Phury numerous times ~ I understand that he an addict, but he really did need a beat down a few times ~ but I guess that's what makes Ward's writing so good, you really do get emotionally involved in the characters and their story.
I did enjoy the side stories aloth ~ my favorite is of about John Matthews, I love seeing the world through his eyes, seeing his strength's and weaknesses and how he deals with everything around him. Blay & Qhuinn are the other two who I enjoy reading about and I am looking forward to reading more about them.
Lash & Rehv also have stories going on in the book and the revelations are pretty interesting.
Love that an old character is brought back and a new one has been introduced.
As always Ward writes a great story that keeps you wanting more.
