This one I got from the library. Gatto is a real teacher. He talks and talks and talks and seems to repeat himself. There were a few interesting tidbits that I got from the book. In fact, there is a quote that says all of this "But keep in mind that in the United States almost nobody who reads, writes, or does arithmetic gets much respect. We are a land of talkers; we pay talkers the most and admire talkers the most and so our children talk constantly, following the public models of television and schoolteachers. It is very difficult to teach the âbasicsâ anymore because they really aren't basic to the society we've made." Says it all; I've been told that teachers don't listen and it's true. I'm hoping his other ones are more interesting and not so repetitive.
