The author puts you right in the mix of the events, the heroics and the tragedy of the on board fire. He also lays out contributing factors that the Navy glossed over in their official investigation. Having been on a carrier and fighting shipboard fires this really struck home for me. The bravery of those Sailors that did their best while being under trained to handle a fir of this proportion is truly awe inspiring. The author does an excellent job of laying the groundwork that lead up to the fire and explosions. This book is a must read for all Navy veterans and current Sailors. You can also find the on board camera record on line plus a documentary of the incident titled "Situation Critical: USS Forrestal" - Documentary about the tragic 1967 fire". Excellent book, very interesting read.
