Paperback Swap

Insteading (Website) - 3/23/2011 by Mary E. Lewis
Are you an avid reader? Are your bookcases groaning under the weight of books you’d be willing to swap? Are you always looking for how-to and self-help books? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, Paperback Swap might interest you.

Paperback Swap is an online club allowing its members to trade books. Membership is free. Using a credit system, you trade books for credits, and then use your credits for books you want. When you mail a book, you are responsible for the cost of postage. When you request a book, the only thing you pay is one credit.

To get started, register for an account. Then, list 10 books that you are willing to part with and you’ll immediately earn two credits. When someone requests a book from your bookshelf, print the wrapper from the site, wrap the book and mail it! Once it’s confirmed that the book has reached it’s destination, you gain a credit to your account.

When I checked this morning, there were thousands of titles covering saving money, self sufficiency, sustainability and green living. You can search by title, author or ISBN number. The inventory of books is always changing.

Paperback Swap also has a thriving online community with discussion forums, member book reviews and recommendations, and a blog. If you’re a bookworm and looking to acquire books on the cheap, check out Paperback Swap.
