PaperbackSwap.com - A Great Way To Recycle Your Books And Get New Ones

Gina's Kokopelli (Website) - 2/12/2010 by Gina
I've mentioned Paperback Swap on my blog before, but I thought it would be something to speak about again. Paperback Swap is a great website for recycling your books. You sign up for free and list any books you would be willing to trade. I think they start you out with three credits when you list 9 books on the site. If someone would like one of your books, you get an email request. You then print out a wrapper for the book and mail the book to the person who wants it. YOU pay the postage. When the person on the other end receives your book, you get a credit to request a book on the site. When you find a book you want, you put in the request, and the book is mailed to you at the expense of the person who has it. Therefore, even though this isn't really free, it's a great way to recycle your books and get new ones without having to go to the library or tag sales. The cost for the average paperback is about $2.50. If you think about it, you are getting books for about $2.50. I've been using Paperback Swap for over a year and have gotten some great books. I prefer this over going to the library because I always forget to return the books and end up having to pay fines. With Paperback Swap, I get the book and it's mine to keep. AND if I don't want to keep it, I can put it back up on the site for someone else to request.
