Marie Cooper, 52, of Ocean Township had some shocking news to share from an Associated Press Ipsos poll one in every four people said they hadn't read a book in the past year.

Her posting on the Web site earned her the title of Post of the Week winner.

"I saw the article on (the) CNN (Web site), and I was really surprised," Cooper said. "I couldn't imagine not reading a book in a year or even a week."

Cooper who enjoys reading, goes through about four books a week, or about 100 to 150 books a year.

"I couldn't imagine a life without reading," Cooper said in her post on "I'm never without a book."

Cooper not only made Jersey Shore moms aware about the poll, but also initiated a discussion on reading habits in children and adults that generated about 14 responses and more than 125 page visits.

Also in her post, Cooper recommended avid readers visit and to exchange books for free on the Internet.
