In this cozy British mystery the actual murder does not occur in the first 100 pages. One suspects who the victim will be, and one sees a number of people who might wish to commit murder. The charm of fifty-something Mrs Mallory, her perceptiveness and her insight into human nature, made the book enjoyable, even though I guessed the murderer before the final chapter. For me,Hazel Holt's mysteries are an antidote to a too harried life. They are gentle and a little slow, a relaxing read.

This charming cozy is set in Philly with a cardiologist who makes house calls and who gets additional income from his side job as a investigator. The secondary characters are colorful. An enjoyable read.

Sidney Poitier, at 80 years of age, reflects on his life in letters to his first great grandchild. At times Mr Poitier sounds more like a philosopher than an actor. It is amazing that someone who could barely read as a teenager, became such a great actor. This book describes that journey.

This was a mixture of a study of upper class life at the turn of the 20th century and a mystery. After I got into it I found it entertaining.

I liked this account of a woman who is determined to save her marriage with her husband requests a divorce.
