This was a engrossing murder mystery read. I would highly recommend it for fans of this genre. Set in Stalinist Russia it deals with the daily paranoia necessary to survive on a daily basis when you did not know who you could trust.

This was an involving tale about different cultures and miscommunication. The author developed the characters well and it gave you an incite into the difficult transitions made by immigrant cultures in the US.

Despite it almost 700 pages in length this book holds your interest throughout. The complex characters and and well developed historical background create an enthralling mystery. The development of three dimensional characters and the plot twists make this an enjoyable read.

Historical mystery with medieval motifs and color. Vivid characters. Enthralling though deeply disturbing.
