Very breezy style of writing. Somehow I was expecting something related to the Antiques Roadshow tv show, but not the case. That's more my fault than the author's, but just a warning in case the title leads others to think the same.

From the back of the book: If only Cliff Hamilton had opened his eyes ten years ago! In high school Sarah Melton had been crazy about this warm, sensitive guy, though she'd hidden her feelings. She and Cliff had been fellow history buffs, that was all. But even chaste hugs and kisses would have been better than nothing.

Now, ten years later, Cliff saw "Marvelous Melton" very clearly as an exciting and damned independent woman. And hugs and kisses weren't enough for him. He had to convince Sarah that he was the man for her...

From the back of the book:
Matt Richardson had not been Mayor Angie Hall's first choice for chief of police. After all, a small city like Westridge was hardly the place for a tought ex-cop from Chicago. But Angie had been wrong. Matt fit in perfectly--a little too perfectly for Angie's liking.
Soon Matt had won the hearts of everyone, from his taciturn secretary to Angie's two little girls. But the heart he really wanted was Angie's. How could Angie tell him that it wasn't hers to give, that it held a secret she could never reveal...?

From the back of the book: Some say love is infinitely patient.
Writer Tracy Kent's rejection intrigued Senator Cole Damon almost as much as the woman herself. After all, the two of them got along professionally like a house on fire...and, as Washington's most eligible bachelor he was more used to females running after him than away from him.
Cole didn't know that Tracy had suffered a betrayal so unthinkable it had shattered her faith in relationships altogether. And, by the time he did find out, he was committed to loving Tracy for always--no matter what it cost him.

If you like the show, you'll like the books.
Since the author actually wrote some of the scripts for the TV show, he knows the characters well. It's easy to "see" Dr. Mark Sloan talking to his son, Steve, while you read the book. These are fun books.

From the back of the book: Nothing would ever be the same.
Everyone in Dallas thought award-winning advertising copywriter Emily Lattrell had it all. And modestly, Emily had to agree. Then the boyishly handsome and wildly successful Philip Manning walked into a brainstorming session at her agency, and before she knew it, the real estate magnate turned her world upside down.
Almost overnight Emily quit her job, moved to a farm and became adopted mom to Philip's two nieces and nephew. But the most important change in her life was discovering the many hues of love...

This may have been published by Harlequin, but it is not a typical romance. It's more of a road trip into self-discovery as a woman with lots of neuroses learns about herself and her two nephews as they drive across Canada. Romance does appear, but it's near the end of the book.

From the back: Actress Haley Riverton had had the world at her feet until, poised on the brink of success, she was stalked and shot by a demented fan. Grateful to escape with her life, she fled to Oklahoma and turned her back on Hollywood.

But Oklahoma wasn't quite the haven she envisioned, especially after Keith Garrison came to town to film a major movie. At first, he was a painful reminder of all she'd given up, but gradually he taught her how to dream again. Little did she know her dreams were about to be shattered once more.

"It felt so right--how could it be wrong? Sara Deane thought she'd been in love before--she'd certainly known the heady thrill of romance. However, loving Cal was a different experience altogether. For, nestled in the shy woodworker's massive embrace, she felt wholly at peace--as if, at last, she'd come home.
But Cal refused involvement, saying she was a teacher, he was only a carpenter and the distance between them was just too vast to be bridged. Intuitively Sara knew he wasn't telling her the whole truth. So she devised a foolproof plan to discover it..."

I think what I like best about this series are the main characters. The setting of the school seems realistic, too. I strongly recommend reading the first book in the series, Murder 101, before reading this one. This book does stand alone, but there is a lot of back story in the first one that will enhance the reading of this book. (Just a note for those who have read the first book: if you were a little turned off by Maggie's, er, nervous stomach (I know I was), that problem does not arise in this book.)

From the back of book:
If this is Beth Holt Martin's life, she wants a refund. It's true. At 53, all Beth's got is a sex-starved marriage to Howard the psychiatrist, an (almost) empty nest and a suitcase full of long-forgotten dreams of becoming...well, something more.

This book was OK, but I found it kind of dry. The situations the characters find themselves in are all too realistic.

"Never judge a book by its cover." I should know this by now, but this book stayed on my TBR pile for too long because I thought it was going to be very light and frothy, very chick lit. Turned out to be less chick lit, more mystery. Yes, the main character is 33 with a mother pushing marriage, but the main character isn't focused only on men. She's more interested in finding her missing boss. Rosie's dreams and visions play a large part in the solving of the mystery. I've put the author's next book on my wishlist.

From the back of the book: Love was all about give and take.
Performing a striptease for a group of women was embarrassing for Kyle Chambers, but he'd "do anything for charity." Of course, he didn't know that Charity Miller was in the audience.
Her laughter brought them together that night, and an undeniable chemistry kept them together in the nights to come. For Charity, everything was perfect. She had independence, her own research company and Kyle. But Kyle wanted more--marriage and children.
That terrified Charity--almost as much as knowing that someone was determined to put Kyle out of business, and would stop at nothing to do it!
