Three short stories full of very erotic scenes. Not much character development - lust and sex are used to advance the story rather than exploring who the characters are and what makes them "tick". A quick read that does not require the reader to be heavily invested in the characters.

Where was this book when I was raising 4 teenage girls? This book is right on in regards to teenage girls and their reasoning/non-reasoning. Having survived raising girls and offering assistance and advice as teenage granddaughter were raised, I really enjoyed this book.

Abigail Graber is a wife and mother who serves as a midwife assistant to her Amish community. On the night that Ruth Fisher goes into labor there is no certified midwife available and the doctor is assisting at an accident scene some distance away. After determining that Ruth is in serious condition and an ambulance is called, Abigail makes a decision that she will soon regret. She injects Ruth with a medication that she should not have had nor administered. Abigail makes no effort to hide what she has done and tells both the EMT's and the police officers that she had injected the medication in an effort to save Ruth's life.
Soon Abigail is arrested and due to the fact that she will not reveal the name of the person who supplied her with the medication, she is sent to jail. A high bail is set and now her husband Daniel must decide what to do, mortgage the farm or let Abigail continue to sit in jail. Daniel and Abigail struggle through out the book as they try to determine what is best to do for their family.

Catherine Yost (Abigail"s sister) comes to care for Daniel and the 2 children. Soon though she learns about Isaiah, Daniel's cousin who lives in a secluded portion of the property. Catherine soon determines that Isaiah is deaf and she tries to find ways to help him learn and to be comfortable in social situations.

The author also lets us see how Nathan Fisher struggles after the death of his wife and his detachment from his newborn son. It was hard to read about his trials but also encouraging to read about his growth as he reaches outside himself.

There are 3 separate story lines in this book but they are all linked together. The author does a very good job of keeping each story separate and yet together because of the common link they share - Abigail.

A very enjoyable book - strong male and female characters who are attracted to each other but at the same time get on each others nerves. Humor is one of the ways Anna deals with her attraction to Anthony and her desire to not follow his dictates for her and the orphans she was hired to "tame".

Drake Carson is the 2nd of the 3 Carson brothers who own a large ranch. The day to day operation of the ranch is his responsibility. He is losing mares to a wild stallion and he is not happy about it. He is also losing cattle and he does not know if it is rustlers or wild animals.
Lucinda (Luce) Hale is doing research on the wild horses that live in WY and she is on the Carson ranch observing the gray stallion she calls Smoke and the other members of his herd. Drake is not happy that she is on his land and wants to try and get close to Smoke. Luce is feisty and strong willed and she does not back down from Drake's demands that she leave the herd alone.
A solution for the wild horses must be found and Drake and Luce disagree on what should be done and of course the romance sparks fly.
Horses, dogs and a wild bobcat are part of the story.

Three wonderful stories that were a coordinated project by the three authors. Each story stands alone but characters from each story are mentioned in the other two. These stories were very different from the typical Amish books and made reading them so much more enjoyable. I am very glad that I took the time to read the book.

In book 1 of this series we learned that Jamie McKenna at age 12 and his brother Reeve age 14 are orphaned in the slums of Dublin. While Reeve is trying to find a cabin boy position for Jamie like he has obtained for himself, Jamie is arrested for pickpocketing and is transported. We also learned that Reeve has spent 20 years looking for Jamie who has been avoiding being found for reasons not fully understood.
This book begins 5 years after Jamie has been transported to Australia and he has been whipped almost to death. Fast forward 16 years and Jamie is a successful sheep rancher in New Zealand. One morning as he is feeding his animals he finds Bliss Stafford, who has run away from home to avoid an arranged marriage, hiding in his hay loft. She is on a mission to get to America to join her mother who deserted her years ago. Jamie tries multiple times to help Bliss but she is her own worst enemy and is constantly getting herself into dangerous situations and must be rescued by Jamie. Mr Stafford eventually finds Bliss at Jamie's ranch and forces him to marry Bliss. Bliss does not want to be married and yet she is extremely jealous of Jamie's friend Peony and does not understand their relationship. Bliss is very strong willed and in her pursuit of still trying get to America she places herself, Jamie and Peony in extreme danger.
The banter between Jamie and Bliss who he calls Dutchess is one of the things I most liked about the book. Bliss is a strong woman and I like female characters who are strong.
At times Jamie is very secretive and closed off emotionally but as we learn more we know why. The author slowly throughout the book fills us in on details of why Jamie was whipped, who Peony is and why their relationship is what it is/ Also the author finally tells us why Jamie has been mad at and avoiding Reeve for all these years. It makes for a very good suspense element.

Everyone considered Annie to be a hard to control idiot. It is not until Alex marries her to give her child conceived from her rape by his brother a name that anyone takes the time to get to know her. Alex soon realizes that Annie is intelligent and he figures out that she is deaf. He falls hopelessly in love with her and his feelings for her make him want to do everything in his power to provide for her even if it means sacrificing his own happiness. A wonderful story full of heart ache and overwhelming love. It is also a statement about how people with disabilities are often misunderstood and/or judged harshly by those around them. I loved this book and highly recommend it.

Answer Them Nothing: Bringing Down the Polygamous Empire of Warren Jeffs
Review Date: 5/1/2014

The author did extensive research for this book and at times it is hard to slog through the background information, however, without that background, there could not be a true and complete understanding of the FLDS. The leadership of the FLDS has isolated their followers since the early 1950's. Over the years the leaders, especially Warren Jeffs have become more and more paranoid and more demanding of complete obedience by his followers to rules that he did not abide by himself.
Several law suits have been files against the FLDS and Warren Jeffs in particular and it amazing to read about all the tricks and stalling tactics that they use.

WOW - this is the first book I have read by this author and I cannot wait to read the other 5 books in this series.
Set in 1861, in what would become Arizona, with the backdrop of the unrest between the white men and Apaches led by Cochise and Geronimo, this is a love story with a historical background. Captured by the Apaches, Daniella is adopted by Cochise but not before she is tortured and traumatized. Travis is wounded and left for dead and his son is captured by the same Apaches. After Daniella is released by Cochise and then rejected by her family, she becomes determined to help Travis find his son. A strong, tender and yet passionate love develops between them. How do you heal from the trauma that they have both suffered? A wonderful tale of how such healing occurs.
Ms Hudson did a wonderful job of researching this period of history and incorporates real events and people into fiction. This is one of the best fiction books I have read regarding one of my favorite periods of history. This story captures the true essence of a native people trying to survive against events and odds that were totally against them and how it colored all their interactions with the white man.

In order to help hold the fragile peace between the white man and the Apache chief Cochise, Matt Colten and Angela Barnes agree to marry in order to keep the news of her capture by foolish Apache youth from becoming known. Set against the events that were unfolding in 1872 Arizona, this is a wonderful story of 2 young people learning to trust and then to love. Ms Hudson has done her research well and incorporates all of the rich history of that period into her books.
This is book 2 of a 6 book series. I would recommend reading them in order as the previous book (Apache Magic) tells you much about Matt's background with the Apaches and why he is so set on holding the peace.

Audrey and Julian are two emotionally tortured souls who think that life can only play out in a certain manner for them and neither thinks love will be in it. Audrey has secrets as does Julian but in time they learn to trust and the secrets are revealed. A great love story in a western setting.

This is wonderful story from a new author. Second in a planned trilogy. Wonderful story teller and now I need to find the first book and can't wait for the third book.
