This book is an awesome read! It really makes you realize how difficult the lives of African Americans were before and during the Civil Rights Movement. The bravery of the characters who stood up for total freedom is to be commended. Thank heavens that the times have changed and, hopefully, we look back in history and realize how wrong we were in our treatment of "the help". It is no wonder that this book has stayed so long in the number one spot on the best seller list.

This was a heart-warming read! The well-developed characters kept me fascinated and not wanting to put the book down. The underdogs come out on top and it was a book that stayed in your mind for quite some time after you closed the last page. I enjoyed the Pacific Northwest setting and, being from North Dakota, I could just picture that wedding dress hanging from that tree. There was suspense along with romance in a nice combination. I will read this author's other books and recommend this one highly!

Another series, another sleuth for Janet Evanovich! I found this to be a fun-filled read that I completed in two days! Evanovich's writing is entertaining and humorous, the kind that takes your mind off the serious things in your life and offers an escape to another world, this time Florida and Cuba. Don't get me wrong, there are some intense times with bullets flying and you wonder if the characters are going to make it, but, in the end, Alex Barnaby prevails and I am looking foward to reading the sequel, Motor Mouth.

This has to be one of the best books I have ever read! The story of the leper colony, the stigma of the disease, and the lives of those who worked with the stricken are beautifully intertwined with the fictional characters. It is a book that will make you cry when you realize what people went through and how far we have come in the treatment of this terrible disease. I have recommended this book to many patrons and book club members in the library where I am on staff and their reactions were all the same. They found it to be excellent. It is a great read and I am looking forward to Brennert's next book!

This series is "laugh out loud" funny. I had to look up on the internet what a 1952 powder blue Buick looked like and I found a picture! Grandma Mazur is the best character in this series and Evanovich just keeps getting better right along. I am always looking forward to her next book and am eager to find out what Stephanie Plum is up to! A good read, for sure, that lightens your spirits!
