This is the 2nd time I've read this book and I don't do that often. I've been reading a lot of books lately about people with positive attitudes and this one goes at the top of my list. The hardships this family suffered during WWII and the Indonesian revolution, one after the other, is ming-boggling. Having lived in Indonesia for 5 years, it was even more impressive because I was very familiar with things she talks about. I also have Dutch grandparents, so that made it even more personal. But if you want to read about a person of great faith, long-suffering and love, it is Mams, the mother of the author. And the author herself is naturally a great example of love and faith, too!

I have learned so much about my emotions and how to deal with them. The meditation she walks you through is so soothing. This book was suggested reading in another book I love, Feelings Buried Alive Never Die...by Karol K. Truman.
