The amusing, at times painful, story of a young aspiring novelist's coke-addled journey through the night clubs and publishing houses of Manhattan, circa 1985. The story is sweeter than you'd think, touching on some of the themes of urban isolation found in Brett Eastin Ellis' work, without surrendering to that author's misanthropy.

I really enjoyed this book, the store of one man's inner journey when struggling with career issues and identity issues when he has no job. By the end he finally realizes he needs to work at any job just to pay the bills. Talk about coming down from the ivory tower of academia! Anyway, I recommend this book.

This is one of my all-time favorite non-fiction books, written by a cognitive science professor at my alma mater. Some of the ideas he's come up with seem so obvious and helpful that you wonder why, in the years since he's written the book, the poor designs he specifically pointed out still exist in our society. For example, doors should not have to be labeled "push" or "pull". The kind of handle on the door should look like something you would either only push or only pull. Read the book and you will see what he's talking about.

this book is only meant for people with a certain muscle separation during pregnancy. if you didn't have this problem and just want to lose weight after the baby, it's not really the book for you.
