I really liked this trilogy set in post-Civil War Alabama. It tells of the heart break, turmoil, and prejudices, in the aftermath of slavery and the devastation caused by war. And how God can bring good even out of the ashes of their lives.

I love the Dry Creek series. The characters are just that ~ Characters; especially the old men who gather around the woodstove in the hardware store (the only store in town). The Matriarch of the town, has had just about everyone in her Sunday School class when they were children; and treats them like they are her own...bossing them around, worrying and caring about them...and of course playing matchmaker. I wish that the Hallmark Channel or PureFlix would make a television series out of it. They would have plenty of material to work with, as there are over 25 books in the Dry Creek series.
In AN ANGEL FOR DRY CREEK is the first story in the series. Glory is mistaken for a real Angel by the Pastor's little boys. Soon, word spreads, and everyone in town is calling her the Angel; especially after they talk her into participating in the town's annual Christmas play. She is in trouble however, and danger is following her to this out of the way little town in Montana. The story has humor, meddling, matchmaking, and a little mystery; all rolled into one enjoyable book.

I could not put this book down...ended up, staying up all night reading. Wow...just when you think you have it figured out...you don't. Who is the traitor among them? Great read.

This is the last in the Lucas-Monroe-Dawson Saga; and was the most emotional. I felt the sadness and frustration of Joelle's heartbreak. Then the description of her emotional state and fears were so genuine, it had my heart pounding. I think maybe Father Cooper was an Angel, sent to help her.

There are 4 really good stories here, especially the last one "Echoes of the Heart"; which is based on a true historical story.
Lady and the Tramps by Jennifer Uhlarik ~ 1874 When outlaws steal a deed from Mattie Welling, her dreams for her 8 orphan charges from NY City are dashed. Can Wells Fargo detective Jake Hickens be trusted to pick up the pieces?
The Second Hand Bride of Polecat Creek by Kathleen Y'Barbo ~ 1890 Zeke Wyatt returns home intent on marrying his childhood sweetheart, only to find she's run off in his absence, leaving her younger sister to care for her aging parents and the mercantile. Can Zeke finally settle down, or will he leave another sister with a broken heart?
The Bride of Basswood Hill by Gabrielle Meyer ~ 1900 When wealthy lumber baron Charles Alexander unexpectedly finds himself married to Italian immigrant Sofia Bellini, he must do all he can to protect her from the society she's ill-prepared to navigate while guarding his heart from her charms.
Echoes of the Heart by Amanda Barratt ~ 1909 Irish immigrant Aileen is willing to work to make a life in America. But even the land of opportunity is paved with hardship, as she discovers the injustices faced by factory workers. When she meets Lorenzo Favero at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory, her heart is stirred. When tragedy engulfs the city, will their love survive the flames?

This book is a sequel to "An Independent Woman", which was about Lord Nicholas Barre and his childhood friend, Juliana Holcott. In "A Dangerous Man", Juliana's best friend, Eleanor (Lady Scarbrough) is newly widowed and blamed for her husband's death by his mother. Her husband's uncle, Lord Anthony Neale, thinks Eleanor is a gold-digger who was just after Edmund's money. They clash from the first time they meet (depicted first in "An Independent Woman"). Then someone starts threatening Eleanor, and the mystery begins....

This was a great book. The emotions portrayed by the Easter redemption story, was very powerful. It takes a lot to make me cry, but this did it (although they were awed, happy tears).

I love Janet Tronstad's Dry Creek series. "A Hero for Dry Creek" was the first Dry Creek book that I read. I liked it so much that I looked for more of her books. Next, I read "An Angel for Dry Creek", and I was hooked! I had to read them all. They are so fun to read; and I love the old-timers who gather around the woodstove in the only store in town...a hardware store. It's great!

The story by Sarah MacLean would have been good, but her writing is too vulgar for my liking. The use of the LORD's name in vain repeatedly was also unnecessary (especially in a book about Christmas).

I liked this book. There were some funny moments; as the American sisters shocked the English with there forthright personalities; and their protectiveness of each other.

Forty-six action packed chapters, with a surprising ending.

I wasn't sure I'd like this book set in A.D. 43; but I was so wrong. Darlene Mindrup weaves historical facts into this fictional story of the rivalry and prejudices of Jews and Samaritans. It describes the tensions with Rome, and tells a story of lies, greed and deceit; as well as the struggles of the new Christians, who are hated by both groups.
